Aluminum castings, as pure aluminum or aluminum alloy equipment components obtained through casting processing methods, occupy an important position in industrial production. Its casting process types are diverse, each with its own characteristics, jointly meeting the demands for aluminum castings in different fields.

First of all, pressure casting, abbreviated as die casting, is a process in which molten aluminum or aluminum alloy is rapidly injected into the casting cavity of a mold under the action of an external force other than gravity. This process can produce high-quality castings with stable dimensions and good interchangeability, which is highly suitable for mass production and has significant economic benefits. However, it may also cause fine pores and shrinkage porosity inside the casting.

Secondly, gravity casting utilizes the gravity of molten metal itself to flow into the casting cavity of the mold. This process can be subdivided into sand casting and hard mold casting. Sand casting is widely used in single-piece or mass production due to its low cost of mold materials and simple process. Hard mold casting, also known as metal mold casting, can produce castings with dense structure and high mechanical properties, and both dimensional accuracy and surface roughness are relatively low.

In addition, squeeze casting, also known as liquid die forging process, combines the characteristics of casting and forging, and is capable of producing castings without internal defects, with low surface roughness and high dimensional accuracy. This process is applicable to various alloy materials and is convenient for achieving mechanized and automated production.

To sum up, there are various casting processes for aluminum castings, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. In practical applications, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as the design requirements, performance demands and production costs of the product to select the appropriate casting process. Only in this way can the quality and production efficiency of aluminum castings be ensured to meet the actual needs of various industries.
